James Watt College of Further and Higher
Education near Glasgow required a CCTV system both to deter
vandalism and crime and also to record any incidents which
may have occurred.
The
system would also be used for health and safety monitoring
when required. Following a complete and in depth investigation
into their requirements the College decided to choose a digital
system over a traditional analogue tape based system.
After
an extensive site survey by College personnel and advice from
a CIE-Security Installer, a system including four EverFocus
EDR1600 units and 48 cameras was fitted. When an incident
occurs the janitorial staff can instantly review the images
using the in-built search facility and then print/archive
high quality images for later reviewing. With staff having
many other duties as well as monitoring the CCTV system, this
search facility has proved invaluable in saving time and money.
As
there are no VCR tapes, there is no daily routine of changing
tapes and James Watt College save money by not having to replace
tapes or video heads. The system further benefits from
very low maintenance and operation costs. Following installation
and a simple user training programme, College staff have reported
the EDR1600 to be very easy to use, even with no previous
knowledge of CCTV operation. |
